United Nations Conference in Collaboration with Lincoln University at Lincoln University
This event is postponed. More information will be added soon. This day event is designed for year 12 students. The aims are to raise the debate about the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and enable students to discuss and establish resolutions for submission and voting to the 'UN Assembly' in the afternoon. It will challenge students to think creatively about how to make a difference in the world they will inherit.
UN Sustainable Development Conference: Conference Outline
- There are currently 192 UN member states/countries.
- In advance of the event, each student is invited to explore resources on UN 2030 SDG’s on UNAGL Website.
- In advance students are invited to learn about the current circumstances of UN nation states with regard to Sustainable Development.
- In advance of the event, each student is allocated to one of the ‘Commission Groups’
- The conference opens with an introductory speaker
- The students then break out to Commission Groups each with a single 2030 SDG as a focus.
- Each Commission Group is asked to form one resolution in respect of their topic which they can put to the assembly in the afternoon.
- The afternoon session is taken up with hearing each resolution followed by a debate and then a vote on the resolution.
