John Firth at Lincoln Climate Commission: Climate Data Tools by Clive Wilson

John Firth ran a workshop at the Lincoln Climate Commission on 8 June on Data Tools to assist decision making on adaptation and mitigation for climate change. He introduced two data tools, Copernicus ECMWF Weather Replay   https://www.ecmwf.int/en/about  , and   https://weather-replay.climate.copernicus.eu/?lat=0.2&lon=0.1&zoom=1.3 , and the Met Office Climate Portal for Local Authorities, https://climatedataportal.metoffice.gov.uk/pages/lacs .

The Copernicus tool provides hourly weather data for anywhere in the world from 1940 to this year. It is updated all the time. The Met offics tool in addition to providing data, allows the production of a separate climate report for all local authoirity areas.

These tools are not only usefull for those working in Climate Change roles, they provide an educational rersource for schools and colleges and businesses and communities.

Climate Change is not a fiction, the data provided from these authenticated sources shows that much will need to be considered in shaping mitigation and adaptation to deal with higher temperaturers and all this will bring.
