Sustainable energy production
Greater Lincolnshire UNA was pleased to host Mark Fenty for the 8th seminar in its series on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He agues that sustainable energy is key to all development needs of humanity and planet in the 21C. In particular local communities have a key responsibility to engage with action to develop community placed based solutions.
SDG Goal 7 is Affordable and Clean Energy and aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Recent news reports on the crisis caused by rapidly rising gas prices highlights the importance of this goal.
Mark's presentation will draw on his experience managing a small community led 15 acre “off grid” rural development in N E Lincolnshire called Humberston Eco Conservation Centre.
The mission within 5 years is to make the Humberston Eco Conservation Centre 100 % carbon neutral and 100% reliant and powered by using several combined heating and power technologies on site including solar voltaics, wind turbines, an anaerobic digestion waste to energy project which will be supported by green, low energy sustainable technologies.
